Signs You’re Experiencing an Anxiety Attack

The symptoms of an anxiety attack mimic many of the same symptoms as a heart attack and can occur without any warning. You don’t need to be diagnosed with anxiety to have anxiety, they don’t discriminate and can kill anyone. Here are five signs that you may be having a panic attack.

A sudden Fear or Feeling of Impending Doom


One of the most common signs of an anxiety attack is an overwhelming fear or feeling of impending doom. The terror you feel can be paralyzing and results from adrenaline flooding your body due to the perception of immediate danger.

Chest Pain


This is the most common symptom that could make you feel like you are having a heart attack. The pain you feel in your chest when you are afraid can be intense and oppressive. If you are experiencing heart pain, it is best to see a doctor to rule out a heart attack.

Difficulty Breathing


A panic attack may make it difficult to breathe properly, or you may feel out of breath. With too much anxiety, you can end up hyperventilating, which can lead to the formation of carbon dioxide in your body. This can cause dizziness and other symptoms.

Increased Heart Rate


When you have a panic attack, your body reacts as if it is facing an imminent threat. Nerve signals trigger the fight or flight response in your body, which produces a rush of adrenaline in your bloodstream. An increase in this hormone causes many symptoms, including heart palpitations, which can make you think you are having a heart attack.

Feeling out of Control


The intense fear and physical symptoms you experience during a panic attack can cause you to lose control. This can increase the fear you already have and make you feel isolated. Around the circle may be distorted or in pain.

The symptoms that you may be experiencing during a panic attack are much like the fight-or-flight response that is encountered during a dangerous situation, but they tend to come from nowhere when you are dealing with an anxiety attack. Fortunately, there are several things that you can do to help alleviate your symptoms and stop the panic attack in its tracks.
